Kat & Karissa Strain have most notably made appearances as actresses in the genre of horror, sci-fi and dark comedy. After years of auditioning for other people's projects it became apparent to them that those opportunities just weren't enough to satisfy the artistic hunger gnawing at them. They decided to take their love of the film world from being on screen to also off. The sisters joined together to form "KarKat Productions" in order to bring their passion for storytelling to life as filmmakers with various web content on their Youtube channel "KarKat TV", their Instagram page "@sistersstrain" as well as writing/producing and directing short films that have been accepted to and won awards at film festivals all over the world.

Although it was enough to whet their appetite for the world of film, it was only the beginning of their filmmaking journey. Newly coined, "The Sisters Strain" Kat and Karissa have switched their gears to writing/directing feature length films through a line up of projects they are eagerly prepping to produce in the coming years with a team as passionate as they are!

Sisters Strain FIlms will be focused on stories that highlight the female experience, with as many women in key positions and crew as possible. Their projects will aim to specifically provide opportunities to and highlight Canadian artists, female artists, as well as casting culturally diverse talent.
